Amazing News From The Hospice of the Good Shepherd

At Forward Builders, we love to recognise the good that people do in our community. It’s a tough time for many, which is why we try to celebrate the good things that are happening in these darker times.

With that in mind, we would like to say an enormous well done to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, who with the help of various groups and volunteers, managed to raise a huge £28,000 by collecting over 2,000 Christmas trees across Cheshire. Here at Forward we did our bit for the fundraiser by donating one of our drivers to help collect some Christmas trees. He spent half a day driving up and down Ellesmere Port and the wider area and managed to collect 30 Christmas trees!

You can read more about the event in this article over at the Chester Standard.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides the vital service of palliative care to the people of Ellesmere Port, Chester, and surrounding areas. With roots dating back to the early 1980s, the hospice supports those coming to the end of their lives with physical, emotional, and spiritual care. They also offer support to the families of those whose loved ones are in palliative care and during mourning.

There are many ways to get involved with the hospice. For example, you can start your own fundraising event doing whatever you choose to raise money for their services. From jumping out of a plane to running a coffee morning, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Upcoming events are often posted on the hospice website.

The hospice also runs a lottery where you can pay a minimum of £1 per month to be entered into a draw for weekly prizes. They also run charity shops throughout the area, and they even have an online eBay shop for those who cannot get out!

If you would like to help out more practically, there is also the option to volunteer at the hospice. Roles include driving, helping out in the shop and warehouse, counselling, fundraising, and more. Full details of all the ways you can volunteer or otherwise support the hospice are available on their website.

We’d like once more to say well done to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, and if you would like to donate to their cause, you may do so by clicking here.
